Last February 14, 2023, UnionBankers enjoyed a multisite celebration of Valentine’s Day. UnionBank Plaza in Pasig, UB Square in Libis, UnionBank Innovation Campus in Laguna, and UnionBank branches decked out their spaces with decorations and gimmicks that made the day special for all UnionBankers reporting in the respective sites.
UnionBank Plaza had a photobooth stand designed with flower crafts where employees took photos with friends and colleagues. Valentine-themed placards were also used to add flair to the photos.
The main attraction at the Plaza was the bazaar set up in the lobby. A mini coffee shop booth by Afters, a coffee and pastry shop, served UnionBankers with their hot drinks of choice, and cakes and pastries were also available for take-out.
The bazaar was also teeming with fresh produce from Baguio thanks to our GoBeyond Communities partner, Session Groceries. They sold herbal soaps, strawberry products, pickled vegetables in jars, and fresh iceberg lettuce. Buying from them qualified as a GBC contribution, as this helped local farmers make a profit.
The mini gift shop proved to be a hit, too. Those who pre-ordered roses and sunflowers were able to pick them up on site. Aside from the bouquets, UnionBankers lined up to buy heart-shaped pillows, chocolates, teddy bears, and other Valentines-themed gifts from concessionaires and Phenom Prime partners.
In UB Square, employees were given a heart-shaped lock and key as freebies. Decorations adorned the offices and workstations, and the heart balloons and paper crafts hanging from the ceiling made it feel like love was indeed in the air.
At UB Square’s entrance, the turnstiles featured signages with love life statuses on them (Pila ng may forever, Pila ng crush ng bayan, Pila ng may forever, Pila ng walang label, etc.). Entering employees chose what they felt applied to them, and some were even seen taking a double look to see if they entered the right path.
Down at Laguna, Psalms of David Harmonic Orchestra serenaded employees in the UnionBank Innovation Campus. They sang live with accompaniments from violins and guitars, and made for an unforgettable and swoon-worthy Valentine’s Day lunch experience.
Love-themed placards were also passed around to add flair to people’s selfies and groupies. Phrases such as “Basta Southerner, Sweet Lover”, “I love U”, and “WillUBmyValentine” were written on them.
Meanwhile, in UnionBank branches, employees were gifted with special café style cream wafers in cans as a sweet treat for Valentine’s Day.
The day’s celebrations showed that Valentine’s isn’t just meant for romantic love. It’s also a time to show appreciation and celebrate the love for family, friends, and in this case, colleagues and co-employees. These fun little gimmicks didn’t just make them feel the love, but were also a way of cultivating a fun and engaging environment for all UnionBankers.
