Selyado 2.0 and UnionBank’s Cybersecurity Culture

Data has become the most valuable asset on Earth. Understanding, analyzing, and learning what to do with it means more leads and better business. Through the use of data, business solutions are personalized and customized to capture the market. But any information, big or small, can be exposed to various threats. Without the constant effort to innovate processes, improve infrastructure, and exchange knowledge on how safeguard data, the risk is always just around the corner.

UnionBank of the Philippines, together with the National Association of Data Protection Officers of the Philippines (NADPOP) are one in their vision to continuously build, promote and foster initiatives in protecting client information, preventing financial crimes and reinforce cyber resiliency.

That’s what Selyado 2.0 is all about. It is an opportunity for regulatory bodies, financial institutions, businesses, and technology innovators to stay updated with legitimate public concerns, real-world issues and threats, and the availability of security products.

The event was held last October 3, 2019 at the UnionBank Plaza and started with the Selyado Exhibit Opening at the lobby. It was then followed by the Executive Forum where subject matter experts and thought leaders imparted their knowledge on financial crime prevention, data privacy, cyber security and resiliency.

The lineup of esteemed speakers includes Hon. Lilia C. Guillermo, Managing Director of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas; Hon. Leandro Angelo Y. Aguirre, Deputy Commissioner of the National Privacy Commission; Hon. Maricris Salud, Deputy Director of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas; Anand Ramamoorthy, Director APJ Head of Data Governance and Data Security of Informatica; and Gen. Gad Goldstein, President of BlueVoyant.

A total of 120 attendees from various industries had the opportunity to network with thought leaders during lunch and attend the training sessions in the afternoon session. The training sessions covered topics including:

          •  Federated Digital Identity
          • Banks – A Hacker’s Playground
          • Business in Blockchain
          • Regulation and Automation Technology
          • Artificial Intelligence & Robotics for Anti-Financial Crimes
          • Privacy and Security in Network
          • Hacking Demo

These learning sessions aim to offer capability-building on privacy and security for emerging technologies and platforms. At the end of the event, 175 UnionBankers became data privacy-certified by Apptitude, Selyado 2.0’s partner platform in offering the online learning activities.

These efforts assure our clients and stakeholders that the bank keeps its standards high when it comes to protecting client information and instituting strict compliance with the RA 10173 or the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

Selyado is a testament that we have cybersecurity culture in our DNA amidst our digital transformation, we wouldn’t be the leader in digital banking if we don’t.
