Future Builder: Ideas Made Real
Digital Delivery Chapter Launch
Three years ago, UnionBank of the Philippines envisioned a complete digital transformation that will change people’s perception of banking. The change started to happen from within, UnionBankers began to work at a faster pace. Everyone is encouraged to collaborate, skill up, and become adept at new technologies.
The bank’s efforts to impart a new culture have been rolling out successfully. Employees are highly engaged, continuously seizing opportunities to learn, and fully own their careers.
Organizational Capability Center of Excellence (OCCOE) plays a vital role in instilling a culture of excellence that the transformation calls for. This paved the way to the creation of the Digital Delivery Chapter which aims to facilitate capability building focused on solutions, design, and delivery.
The chapter grows a community of UnionBankers, regardless of IT background and exposure. It will encourage and lead collaboration within the community by conducting learning sessions, deploying tools, sharing best practices, and standardization of processes.
The Digital Delivery Chapter was introduced to the organization through the event “Future Builder: Ideas Made Real”. The launch featured UnionBank leaders, Ms. Michelle E. Rubio and Mr. Henry R. Aguda who emphasized the company’s commitment to continuously provide learning opportunities and to leverage this knowledge to succeed and own the future.
The event also highlighted Android Customer Experience Hackathon or the ‘Eve Hackathon’ which enabled teams to pitch some ideas on what features should Eve possess to create an impactful customer experience.
Five (5) teams competed and Team Roboknows’ idea to make Eve a Branch Concierge emerged as the best one. In their presentation, Eve will be at the frontline and will offer clients an end-to-end customer experience. Clients can book a branch visit through the UnionBank app and Eve will welcome and process their transactions with ease.
Other teams’ ideas were Project Rosie, which utilizes Eve as an e-payment and fund transfer gateway. Team OCCOEve presents Eve as a subject matter expert on the bank’s products and services. Team HMB makes use of Eve as a Talent Application Bot which will be present at hackathons and career fairs. Team SupportEve’s idea suggests that Eve becomes an information tool for clients while they wait for a UnionBanker to attend to their concerns.
The winning team will work with IT and CX units to turn their ideas into reality. After all, that’s what Future Builder is all about.
Congratulations to the Digital Delivery Chapter and Organizational Capability Center of Excellence for this initiative and we look forward to the succeeding sessions!
