UnionBank’s Fintech Business Group hosted the 2023 Tech-Economic Briefing last Friday, February 17, 2023, at Shangri-La The Fort, Manila in Bonifacio Global City.

The Tech-Economic briefing is the firstofitskind event for business owners, analysts, and economists that provides an outlook of the Philippine digital economy landscape, investment opportunities, projections, and key players in various industries.

To kick things off, UnionBank’s Senior Vice President (SVP) and Fintech Business Group Head, Erika Dizon, gave the opening remarks to welcome the 200 participants including members from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

UnionBank’s Chief Economist Carlo Asuncion gave a detailed representation of the global economic outlook. He also enlightened the participants about the effects of Globalization, the turbulent and volatile economies, and the rising inflation in recent years.

He ended his talk on a positive note by encouraging the participants to support the country’s rising digital economy.

Engaging the Digital Customer

Albert also highlighted the importance of the internet, saying

“When you develop your apps, adaption will be affected if your features load slowly.”

The Chief Marketing Officer also dabbled in the modern consumer trend of using social media platforms to search and avail services, consumer patience levels, and the importance of app graphics and visualizations.

“My personal pet-peeve especially on social media is copy-pasting content across all pages. That is a waste of time and money,” said Albert.

“It is more optimal to choose what social media platform to use so you can tailor fit your posts based on your followers and potential customers.” He added.

The 4-hour event was capped off with a grand selfie and some pocket meetings. Each Fintech group, the Bangko Sentral Representatives, and UnionBankers from various departments gathered and strategized their 2023 digitalization plans.
