UnionBankers Learn About AWS CloudFormation

Over 150 UnionBankers learn the process of deploying Architecture by undergoing three processes: the Web Tier, App Tier, and Database in the 9th Users, Load, Applications, and Platforms Center of Excellence (ULAP) e-learning session with Amazon Web Services (AWS) that was held last August 19.
AWS Senior Solution Architect, Industry Solutions, Julian Pittas led the discussion by dissecting the inner workings of deploying Infrastructures through coding.
“This will take a time depending on the number of processes you are deploying, but you’ll have these lists of steps if you want to repeat the process,” said Julian.
According to Julian, there are many reasons on why UnionBank will benefit from using their CloudFormation service.
The benefits of using AWS CloudFormation:
1.) Stack is a collection of AWS resources that you can manage as a single unite or a template.
2.) AWS CloudFormation ensures all stack resources are created or deleted as needed.
3.) You can work with stacks by using the AWS CloudFormation console, API, or AWS CLI.
4.) You can focus on what matters – Updates, Failure logic, and you don’t have to manage deployments.
5.) Integration ready.
The second half of the session focused on the more technical side of coding such as the anatomy of a Template, and the various ways to create or modify a bucket.
Just like the previous e-learning sessions, it ended with a short quiz, facilitated by UnionBank Learning and Development Head, Ms. Joanna Romero Wolf.
Julian also answered some questions regarding AWS CloudFormation from the participants.
