UnionBank’s Occupational Safety and Health Division (OSHD) has recently kicked off Safety Week 2024 last April 22 at UnionBank Plaza, marking the beginning of a week dedicated to workplace safety in alignment with the global observance of World Safety Day on April 28.
In his opening speech, OSHD Head Henry Perez emphasized the urgency of addressing climate change, stating, “Climate change is no longer a distant threat, it’s now a reality.” He highlighted the importance of collective action, and how Safety Week acts as an effective initiative for raising awareness and promoting safety within the organization.
Afterwards, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to unveil the entries of the poster-making contest with the theme “The Impacts of Climate Change on Occupational Safety and Health,” featuring 29 creative entries. Participants competed for prizes, including gift certificates worth up to PHP10,000. The winning posters will also be displayed across UnionBank offices.
Throughout Safety Week, UnionBankers can expect a range of fun and engaging activities, including a bloodletting drive, an eco-market, and various webinars and learning sessions related to the theme.
With these events, UnionBank demonstrates its commitment to fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility among its workforce.
