Last September 13, 2023, UnionBank volunteers from the Visayas Region organized a remarkable GoBeyond Communities initiative at EB Magalona National High School. This aimed to enrich the educational experience of students in a community deeply rooted in agriculture.
The vicinity surrounding EB Magalona National High School mainly consists of agricultural lands, farms, and haciendas, with families relying heavily on agriculture as their primary source of income. Recognizing this, the volunteers collaborated with school representatives to identify areas where their support could make a meaningful impact. They identified that providing equipment and supplies would greatly enhance the students’ agricultural skills and help them thrive.
The donation includes a range of agricultural tools and equipment, including seedlings, electrical tools, and various hand tools necessary for farming and gardening.
A short program was done during the visit, attended by district representatives, the principal, teachers, and selected students. It also included the official turnover of donated materials and the presentation of a plaque of appreciation for the volunteers.
The teachers expressed their gratitude for the initiative, recognizing how helpful it would be to the students and their families.
By providing essential tools and equipment, the students are equipped not only to excel academically but also to contribute meaningfully to their families’ agricultural endeavors.
