UnionBank Volunteers Donate Cleaning and Hygiene Essentials to Ma. Rosario Araneta Elementary School

Last November 18, 2023, UnionBank volunteers visited Ma. Rosario Araneta Elementary School in Negros Occidental for a GoBeyond Communities initiative for the benefit of students. The purpose was to alleviate the burden on both learners and teachers by providing essential cleaning and improvement materials. Many students at the school cannot afford to contribute financially for these necessities, prompting the need for external support.
The volunteers generously donated a range of items including sorting trash bins, bleach, big brooms with handles (walis tingting and walis tambo), toilet brushes in various sizes, dust pans, corrugated sheets, and liquid handwashing soap. These materials are intended to facilitate daily clean-up activities within the school premises and its surroundings.
Among the significant contributions were corrugated sheets, which will be used to shield the wash area from rain, ensuring usability even during inclement weather. Meanwhile, the provision of liquid handwashing soap aims to promote hygiene practices among the students, reducing the risk of diseases associated with unclean hands.
A short program was organized to mark the turnover and receipt of the donations. The entire teaching staff, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and student government officers expressed their appreciation for the donations, recognizing the significant impact it would have on the students’ welfare.
For Lorraine Torres, the initiative’s organizer and a Junior Ambassador from the Bacolod Lacson branch, the completion of this GBC project brings a profound sense of fulfillment and happiness to their team. Witnessing the positive outcomes of community engagement initiatives like this highlights the importance of collective efforts in addressing educational and social needs.
Once again, GoBeyond Communities demonstrates the power of community-driven efforts in fostering positive changes and supporting underserved areas. Through teamwork and kindness, UnionBankers continue to make a difference in people’s lives.
