UnionBank’s LEAD Management Trainees under the Product Owner Track participated in a coastal conservation initiative as part of the bank’s employee-led GoBeyond Communities (GBC) program.

The group of volunteers visited the Pag-asa Pawikan Protection and Conservation Center Corp. (3P3C) in Bagac, Bataan, contributing to efforts to protect the endangered pawikan (sea turtles) and restore the coastal environment.

In support of 3P3C’s operations, UnionBank handed over essential equipment for the 30 volunteer rangers, including rechargeable flashlights, waterproof dry bags, and raincoats. The initiative was part of GBC’s commitment to environmental protection, emphasizing the need for collective action to address the urgent threats facing the country’s coastal habitats.

The trainees worked alongside local volunteers, including Brgy. Captain and 3P3C Founder John Harry Carreon and Mon Barranda, engaging in activities such as coastal cleanup and mangrove planting. Their hands-on experience raised awareness of the impact of pollution on marine ecosystems, reinforcing the importance of conservation efforts. The group also visited pawikan nests adopted by UnionBank, which will be monitored by volunteer rangers until the eggs hatch.

GoBeyond Communities continues its journey of empowering and inspiring people to protect the environment, the program remains committed to supporting projects that safeguard the future. The goal is to maintain the momentum and ensure that efforts like these create a ripple effect, leading to lasting change.
