PROJECT LOVE: UnionBank Volunteers Upgrade School Library and Comfort Rooms of Tamag Elementary School

Last September 23, 2023, UnionBank volunteers embarked on a mission to Vigan City as part of a GoBeyond Communities initiative titled “PROJECT LOVE”. Their goal was to enhance the educational experience of over 100 students at Tamag Elementary School by upgrading their school library and fostering a love for reading from an early age.
Understanding the importance of a well-equipped library, the volunteers focused on providing essential resources and amenities. They donated construction materials for library renovations and gender-specific restrooms, as well as reading materials, tables, and chairs, creating a welcoming space for exploration and learning.
Their mission was not only about renovating a space. Through storytelling sessions and engaging activities, they also wanted to instill a love for learning in the students, sparking curiosity and imagination.
The Barangay officials, teachers, students, and parents all expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the positive change brought about by the volunteers’ initiative. One teacher said, “We cannot do it all alone, Ma’am, kaya super thankful po ako kay God na nandiyan kayo para sumuporta at magbigay katuparan sa aming adhikain para sa lahat ng mga mag-aaral namin.“
Another teacher also expressed, “Napa-wow po at super excited na po ang lahat na makita ang final outcome at mas magamit nang madalas ang school library.”
Six UnionBankers joined this initiative, hailing from both the Vigan and Laoag branches. Their collaborative efforts exemplified the Bank’s commitment to making a difference in communities. With this initiative, they didn’t just renovate a library—they also built a bridge to knowledge, empowerment, and opportunity for the children.
