On December 16, 2023, UnionBank volunteers from the Davao Quirino and Davao Cabaguio branches went to Barangay 39D Child Development Center to donate toys, and school supplies, and to socialize with the children.
April Casangyao, UnionBank’s Sales and Service Officer, expressed her thoughts on the initiative. “UnionBank’s GBC provides an excellent platform for us to contribute to the community. Individually, we may have very little to spare, but the few hours of our time can bring so much joy to the beneficiaries. It feels good to give and be able to help“.
Giving toys and books to a Child development center does not cost much, but to a non-earning community, these material things hold great value. As mentioned by the head teacher of the community, “Children ages 3-4 years old not only need pens and papers, but they also need toys to promote positive socialization.”
Donating toys and books to a Child Development Center may not require a significant amount of money, but for a non-earning community, these material things hold great value. As stated by the head teacher of the community, “Children between the ages of 3-4 years old not only need pens and paper, but they also require toys to promote positive socialization.
In the spirit of UnionBank’s commitment to community development, volunteering goes beyond monetary contributions. The sweat equity invested by our employees in sharing the donations, socializing, and playing with the beneficiaries serves to foster a positive work culture and instill a sense of belonging in the communities we serve — embodying the very essence of UnionBank’s GBC initiative.
As per one of the staff members at the Child Development Center, engaging in role-playing games can keep young minds active and stimulate their imagination by allowing them to imagine themselves in different situations. Since small barangay communities have limited budgets, donations of books and toys are essential for the growth and development of these children.

Brgy. 39D’s child d center, established in 1995, serves families to nurture their 3 to 4-year-old children, totaling 80 children during limited hours.
