On June 15, 2024, UnionBank volunteers from the South Luzon Region went to Biñan City Science High School to donate encyclopedias and other reading materials to their school library.
The day started with a warm welcome from the school principal, teachers, and the president of their local Students, Parents, and Teachers Association (SPTA). This was followed by a short tour inside the library led by the school librarian.
UnionBank Marketing Officer and Financial Advisor Renato Bansil led an insightful talk on financial literacy, covering topics such as proper budgeting, saving tips, investments, and effective financial planning. This talk empowered the attending parents, students, and teachers with the necessary knowledge to manage their finances effectively.
After the talk, a simple turnover ceremony was held. UnionBank volunteers unloaded boxes of reading materials that included encyclopedias, fictional novels, non-fiction novels, learning books, and more.
GoBeyond Communities (GBC) project organizer and UnionBank Branch Manager Jennifer Reyes shared her thoughts about the successful donation drive, saying, “It was truly memorable to see everyone smiling and happy as we gave them our book donations. It was fulfilling to know that we helped the institution in our own little way.”
“I’ll always and forever be grateful to UnionBank for the GBC,” she ended.
Through the years, Union Bank of the Philippines has continuously helped communities and organizations that are situated in remote areas or in need of donations. This is our way of giving back to the community that will continue to mold the pillars of the nation: the next generation of financially literate and empowered Filipinos.
