Consistency is the Key to Victory – AJ Ureña

Maintaining focus is becoming harder and harder in this day and age because distractions come in all forms.

AJ Ureña, Relationship Manager from Retail Banking Center, seems to have mastered minimizing distractions and perform at his best every day.

A UnionBanker since 2014, AJ didn’t have any experience doing sales
before his job at the Bank. But because of his desire to excel and provide the best customer experience to UB’s clients and potential customers, AJ is now known as one of the top and most consistent RMs in terms of marketing our products.

Primarily, his role is to acquire new customers for the bank and grow the banking relationship with the existing customers. On top of that, AJ also markets the whole suite of UnionBank products that he knows by heart.

Because of the current restrictions at work, AJ is also maximizing the use of Social Media in his career. He stated, “Social media is now a good tool in communicating with our clients. It makes them feel connected to UnionBank even though they cannot visit the branches.”

As an RM, AJ relies on his social skills. He was generous enough to impart some knowledge on how he manages to attain and sometimes exceed his KPI (Key Performance Indicator):

“I’m trying to compress time by setting daily goals, and even hourly goals.” Said AJ.

“Example: for an hour, I need to talk to 50 people, and in those 50 na nakausap ko, you get 3 leads na may gusto mag-open ng account. That’s not bad in an hour of work.” He ended.

His performance over the years paid off with his three (3) Maximus Awards, along with the recognition as Consistent RM for exceptionally marketing our Bancassurance Products.

With his passion and commitment to serve, AJ together with RBC Metro East Region Sales Director Cyrus Rebueno, Retail Banking Center Head Joyce Gonzalez, and HR Services Head,
Daisy Alvior helped the Bank and its employees by securing a vaccination partnership with the Quezon City LGU. A total of 316 UnionBankers benefited from this partnership.

AJ proved that you shouldn’t let the situation drag you down. Despite the ongoing pandemic, his consistency and contributions to the Bank are one of the reasons why UnionBankers are inspired to bring the best out of each other.
