4 Ways to get into “Work Mode” After Time Off
By: Neil Nepomuceno
Finding it hard to re-focus on your tasks after a long break? Here are some ways you can get back into rhythm!
Re-establish your morning routine
Re-establish your morning routine to help you feel more grounded.
TIPS: If you haven’t started yet, it’s time to start creating a morning routine. This could be as simple as waking up early, eating a healthy breakfast, and taking cold showers before going to work.
Choose a convenient time to respond to emails.
Whether it’s early in the morning or afternoon, allot a portion of your day on your calendar to catch up on and respond to emails.
TIPS: Setting aside a specific time in responding to emails makes you accountable and focused on the task at hand. Additionally, this habit helps to set clear expectations to your colleagues about your response time.
Prioritize your most urgent tasks from your to-do list
Relax. You don’t need to get everything done on your first day back.
TIPS: Keep in mind that urgent tasks can be de-prioritized due to moving schedules or more important matters. Review ongoing tasks from time to time and work on them accordingly.
Spruce up your office table
Eliminate distractions by decluttering your office table. Remove seldom–used office supplies, company mugs, planners and more.
TIPS: Research shows that adding certain colors plays a significant role in our cognitive functions and creativity. Yellow evokes a positive vibe; green relaxes your eyes while blue makes you focus more―to name a few.
