UnionBank Football Club (UBFC) brings home the trophy as the Champions of Division 2 Plate Finals at the 2025 Corporate Football League (CFL) 8v8 tournament last April 5, at the Atleta 63 turf in Bridgetowne, Pasig City.
After a grueling group stage for the Corporate Football League (CFL) 8v8 qualifiers, UBFC was grouped with the Philippine Airlines (PAL) and JP Morgan Chase (JPMC) for the final phase of the competition wherein the team with the best record would be declared the Champions of the Division 2 Plate.
The team was off to a slow start in its first game against PAL, trailing for 2 field goals and having a score of 2-0 at the half. As they recharged and competed, UBFC roared back after making some halftime adjustments, resulting in a tie game and eventually taking the lead to finish the game 3-2 in favor of UBFC.
For the second match, JPMC shocked the team and scored early with 1-0. Despite being down for most of the game, UBFC never gave up and secured a crucial equalizer in the final seconds of the game to finish at a 1-1 draw. The points gained from both games were enough to secure the championship for UBFC.
