The spirit of ubuntu and bayanihan was on full display on December 12, 2024, as UnionBank volunteers from Zamboanga, along with the Philippine Army’s Marine Battalion 11, a major fast-food chain, and Klasrum ng Pag-asa, visited the remote Mountain View Elementary School, bringing joy to around 143 students through their donations, including durable schoolbags for everyone.
The faculty members welcomed the visiting volunteers, and the distribution of donations was carried out as planned. There were a series of fun activities for the children and financial literacy talks for the parents, conducted by the UnionBank employee volunteers.
According to UnionBank Branch Ambassador Raphael Acuna, the volunteers played key roles in ensuring the students were engaged and in creating a warm atmosphere throughout the program.
“Seeing the children’s delighted faces as they saw and danced with the mascot, and witnessing their parents’ desire to improve their lives and finances in the community during our financial literacy workshop, my heart is full because all of us demonstrated the power of small actions in driving significant change,” Raphael said.
UnionBank continues to promote its flagship CSR and Sustainability program, GoBeyond Communities, to every employee, empowering them whenever they plan outreach or relief operations in disaster-struck locations and inviting other employees to join this noble cause of helping others and promoting financial inclusion.
