On September 30, 2023, the UnionBank Core Operations team, together with the Million Trees Foundation, helped mitigate deforestation by engaging in tree-planting activities, where they planted over 60 Philippine native trees, including Narra, Bitaog, and more.
According to UnionBank Transaction Services Supervisor, Jane Malaubang, the team of volunteers reached the tree-planting site by 7:30 AM, where they were welcomed by some staff from MTFI. There, the volunteers learned how to carefully plant the trees to ensure their growth.
“Everyone was tired after the tree planting but everyone was still with high energy. They’re even joking to plant more trees!” – Jane
When asked about the GBC Project, Jane said that it was a success and an unforgettable experience since it was her first time joining GoBeyond Communities.
“A heartfelt THANK YOU to Union Bank of the Philippines for standing with us in our mission to create a brighter and greener future! Together, we are not just dreamers but change-makers!”
“Through this powerful tree growing activity, we are making a real impact on our environment, one tree at a time. May we continue to inspire others and spread the message of sustainability and conservation.” She ended.
The event concluded with the UnionBank volunteers receiving a certificate along with some eco-friendly gift items as a token of appreciation.
