Martina Lucero
UnionBank’s Operational Risk Management unit with the guidance of ORMC Chairman UBP Director, Josiah J. Go, has recently spearheaded an online learning conference entitled “Beating close call moments: Near miss incidents” last December 21, 2022.
Attended by over 315 UnionBankers comprising of line managers and unit heads with the participation from Senior Management (Ms. Michelle Rubio, Mr. Henry Aguda, Mr. Dennis Omila, etc.) and Directors (Vice Chairman Justo A. Ortiz and Director Josiah Go), the conference discussed the importance of identifying near-miss incidents or operational risk events that did not negatively impact the bank (e.g., financial, reputational, regulatory, etc.) – thanks to the preventive measures set in place.
Distinguished speakers that led the discussion and provided expert insight included Branch Channel Management Head Job Dator, Infrastructure and Service Management Head Ryan Acosta, Anti-Fraud Investigation and External Affairs Head Atty. Cyril Arnesto, and Transaction Banking Services Head Ms. Girly Magnait, among others.
The conference not only heightened the awareness regarding near misses but also celebrated the success of saving UnionBank from any adverse impacts and, in turn, serving as an inspiration to others.
As it proved to be a high-yield learning conference, UnionBank leaders are looking forward to making it a regular event that everybody can attend.
