AWS Experts Impart Well-Architected Framework Processes

By: Neil Nepomuceno

As part of the ongoing Transformation Initiative Program (TIP) UnionBank’s ULAP Guild (Users Load Applications and Platforms) along with AWS experts hosted the Well-Architected Framework Overview session last Friday, May 27.

AWS Solutions Architect, Sir Stephen Salim leads the e-learning session where he discussed the importance of a well-architected framework while continuously working on the UnionBank’s Cloud Architecture.

“When you focus so much on the functionality aspect of it and you miss out on the surrounding aspects that are important to the workloads longevity, it can essentially undermine the value of the workload that you are building.” – Stephen Salim

Aside from the detailed AWS Framework overview, both Sir Stephen and AWS Principal Well-Architected SA Lead, Sir Tim Robinson gave tips on how to optimize UnionBank’s increasing workloads in the cloud.

“Think of the framework as a mechanism to connect the ‘why’ you are building the architecture and the ‘how.’” – Stephen Salim

Sir Stephen was also joined by Sir Tim in the Q&A session with the 56 participants from different branches, departments, and IT specializations.

This was the second session e-learning session with AWS aimed to increase UnionBank’s agility, and cloud capabilities.
