Spruce up your Workspace

“Cluttered space, cluttered mind.” Some people would agree while some would beg to differ and might even associate it with creativity. However, studies show that clutter can affect productivity, impact mental health, and lead to excessive hoarding.

If you feel like you aren’t as productive as before or you’re having difficulty organizing your thoughts, you should probably start organizing your space now. Here are a few tips how:

1.) Personalize your desk for added inspiration.

Fond of to-do lists, sticky notes, or journaling? You may want to add a personal touch to your space by including some supplies that would help you organize your thoughts better while reflecting your personality. By simply making your desk feel more like ‘home’ instead of perceiving it as an extension of your office, you’ll be surprised at how productive you can be. Add some plants, put some of the things you love, maybe a favorite mug or a treasured gift could make all the difference from feeling drained while doing work, or being refreshed every time you hold or see those objects because of the motivation and positivity it brings.

2.) Learn to organize your clutter.

If you’re the type of person who manages your paper works well, office supplies that are not in use, or has an eye on making their wired connections neat and organized, then good for you. For those who aren’t so conscious about how messy or cluttered their workplace is, it’s time to look around and start de-cluttering unused or excess items. Remember that “cleanliness is next to godliness.”

3.) Isolate yourself from distractions.

Nothing messes up a highly productive work pace than a sudden loud noise, a family member, our pets seeking for attention, or any unnecessary notification from your phone or devices. Control these variables to increase your productivity!

4.) Add some color – but don’t overdo it

It’s a well-known fact that colors play a significant role in our cognitive functions, with some colors better suited to different situations. For starters, use red when you need some productivity boost if you’re in a physically demanding job. Calming blue makes communication easier and is brilliant when it comes to tasks that require maximum focus. Yellow evokes a positive vibe and will help you when it comes to creative work. Green helps relax your eyes and prevent eye strain. Do your research and incorporate colors that will transform your workplace into a ‘happy place.’

5.) A proper chair could make all the difference.

Poor posture can lead to occupational hazards, so investing in what makes you comfortable, especially for prolonged sitting. Get an ergonomic chair, a suitable office table, and a backrest.
The chair’s ergonomics and functionality must be your top priority.

All of these tips aim to make your workspace more engaging and efficient. It would also help direct your focus on work better by establishing a better connection with your dedicated workspace that appeals to your personality.
